Like pretty much every person in the country (gazillionaires excluded), I’m cutting waaay back on holiday gifts this year. For the few family members I am buying for, I’ve got my eye on Gaiam’s super-sleek aluminum water bottles. The patterns are so glam that you’d expect the bottles to cost way more than they do (they’re about $10 to $15 on Amazon right now). There’s even a yoga mat that matches this cute tree pattern—how cool is that?

A few months back I did a post about the Bisphenol A (BPA) in water bottles and the potential for side effects. BPA is an estrogen-like chemical that can leach into your drink. It may be linked to health problems, including breast cancer and early puberty. Canada is considering banning the use of it altogether. My own water bottles were not the only issue though. I realized that most of my kid’s sippy cups also contain BPA! Why one earth do they manufacture children’s cups with toxic chemicals
